Tournament (Women): Football World Cup · Organized by the Football Association of England, the tournament was between national teams and took the form of a knockout system, but still served as a demonstration sport only. In the second half of the 1920s, it was decided not to include football as part of the program of the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, because of the low popularity of football in the United States at the time and differences of opinion between FIFA and the IOC on the status of amateur players.
